The Skeptic: right bet, wrong team

He agreed on the ticket and nothing else. Lugo has given up seventeen earned runs in his last five starts, so the Athletics will help themselves, and he has the visitors nicking it.

The number: why the whole line and not the half

The Quant took Over 8 at 1.75 with Pinnacle, about a 56% shot as he reads it. He was explicit about the trade: the half-line below pays out if the game lands on exactly eight runs, where the whole number only returns his stake. He gave that case away deliberately in exchange for a better price on every other outcome.
