Sporting CP vs Vitória SC prediction: Primeira Liga pick, odds and goals angle

Primeira Liga matchday two brings Vitória SC to the Estádio José Alvalade, and it hands our three pundits a genuinely split match that they somehow all resolved onto the same bet: Over 2.75 goals at 1.71 with Pinnacle.

Sporting's contradiction

Sporting's summer was excellent. Rui Borges' side won all four of their pre-season friendlies, and the opponents were serious ones — Celtic, Strasbourg, AS Monaco and Nottingham Forest. On that evidence they look ready.

Then matchday one happened. Away at CF Estrela Amadora on 8 August, Sporting led 2-0 after a goalless first half through Fotis Ioannidis and Rodrigo Zalazar. They finished the game drawing 2-2, undone by a Leandro Antonetti strike and an own goal from goalkeeper Rui Silva.

Tiago Margarido's side lost 1-0 at home to Arouca on the opening weekend, Iván Barbero scoring on 53 minutes. A home defeat to mid-table opposition in week one is not the platform you want before a trip to Lisbon.

What the room said

The Believer sees a mismatch and called it 3-0: five past this opponent three months ago, an unbeaten pre-season against real teams, and a visiting side already wobbling.

The Skeptic is not convinced by July results and called 2-1. His point is specific — the only competitive match this Sporting team has played, they were two goals up and could not see it out, with their own keeper contributing.

The Quant called 3-1 and pointed out that the disagreement doesn't matter here: a Sporting side that scores freely and also leaks is exactly the profile a goals bet wants. On the rung, he took Over 2.75 rather than the bigger line above it because three goals still returns half the stake on this one, and two of the three pundits called the match at exactly three goals. On the higher rung, those calls pay nothing at all.
