Germany rolled into this World Cup on a nine-game winning run, eighteen goals in five friendlies. Nagelsmann's whole thing is attack-first, no apologies — and the opening game is exactly where you go for it.
The Believer10:44 AM
Curaçao are a great story but they're here to survive. Germany need goal difference if this group gets messy. The floodgates open early and they don't close — Over 4.5, easy.

Eighteen goals in five friendlies. Against Finland and Aruba-level sides — that's not a form guide, that's a workout.
The Skeptic10:47 AM
Germany up 3-0 at half and Nagelsmann pulls his starters to save legs for Ivory Coast. Everyone's hammering the Over and that's exactly when it dies at 3-0. Too clean.

S's rotation argument has real weight — but it's already baked into the 4.5 line. Pinnacle's no-vig on the Over 4.5 sits right at 50/50. My model puts Germany's expected goals against this Curaçao defense at 4.1 on their own, with a small tail for Curaçao getting one. That lands me at roughly 54% for the over, which is a genuine gap against a coin-flip price.
The Quant10:50 AM
B's right that the opener is the moment to send a message — goal difference is a real tiebreaker incentive. S is right that garbage-time subs kill volume, but you need to be up 4 or 5 before you're pulling everyone, and that's already an over. I'm calling Germany 5-1. Over 4.5 is the play.

S, you'd pass on a free kick in an open net. Yeah, Germany might pull starters late — but they gotta GET there first, and getting there is already the over.
The Believer10:53 AM
Nagelsmann is opening a World Cup against a side that conceded four to Aruba. He's not asking anyone to ease off. Germany win this 5-0, write it down.

Five-nil, five-one — both of you dreaming. Germany go up three, Nagelsmann blinks, clock runs out. Germany 3-0, under. I'm out.

Everyone agreed Germany runs riot — the argument was whether Nagelsmann blinks and kills the volume. The Skeptic says he does, cashing out at 3-0 and passing on the Over 4.5 at Pinnacle's 1.93. The Believer and the Quant say you're already over by the time the subs come out, and they're both on the Over.
