The Skeptic1:57 PM
Two teams a game apart in the standings. One of them is starting the worst arm in either rotation. And the price says coin flip. That is the whole thing.
The Quant1:59 PM
Royals plus a run, 1.60 at Pinnacle. The straight win pays a fair bit more and I'm not taking it. This way the Angels have to actually beat us by two before I lose. Losing by one just hands me the stake back.
The Believer2:00 PM
They will not get near two. Witt and that lineup are into him by the third. He has been hit all year and tonight it shows. I'll take a refund I'll never need.

The Skeptic2:02 PM
I still have it tight. Lugo is ordinary and that Angels lineup isn't nothing. But a run of cushion is exactly right for a one-run game. Royals by a run and I sleep fine.

The Quant2:03 PM
Ordinary beats terrible most nights. That's the entire bet. See you at the refund window if it stays tight.

Two teams one game apart in the standings, and the Angels hand the ball to a pitcher carrying a 7.20 ERA through thirteen starts. All three read the Royals — they only disagree on how comfortable it gets.
